We at CareTX. To help our potential adoptive families and our foster families in the decision making process, CareTX. After you apply to adopt or foster a dog, you will discuss your unique situation with a trained CareTX. Our CareTX. This is the first and biggest question you need to ask yourself before you commit to adopting or even fostering a dog. We have many dogs and puppies who were surrendered at the shelter because their family did not realize the kind of time and energy owning a dog would require. Adopting a pet means that you make a commitment to care for that pet for the rest of his or her life. Many rescue dogs have had a difficult life and some have habits that will need to be addressed. These dogs will require socialization, plenty of exercise, attention and, most importantly, lots of patience.

Please consider making a donation to Pet MatchMaker Rescue. Every dollar donated to the rescue benefits the animals while making them feel loved and safe during their transition time with us before they go to their furever homes! We have established connections to adoptees and other rescue groups outside of Kern County, allowing us to transfer or place as many as animals per month. Currently over dogs and cats are euthanized every month in one Kern County shelter alone, so there is still much more work to be done.
Pet Matchmaker Rescue works with Kern County Animal Control and identifies lone animals left to stray in the community. We provide housing, a stable and supportive environment, veterinary care, spay and neutering, and adoption for as many animals as possible in a humane, safe and sanitary manner. Pet MatchMaker Rescue aims to reduce the number of euthanized animals from Animal Control facilities.
We also aim to reduce the number of stray animals in Kern county and hope to build a knowledgeable and understanding community. We aim to provide high quality care including, food, shelter, and medical services for these animals until they are adopted to a forever family. At any given time, we house anywhere from animals at our rescue facility.
So we are always in need of volunteers to help us care for them and the property.
Matchmaking – Working with Adopters and Pets to Increase Adoptions
Now through the end of the February, adopters who are tired of swiping left on potential love connections can have the PSPCA’s staff match them up with their ideal canine companion. The PSPCA’s adoption team will help match adopters with their most compatible canine partner by encouraging them to stop in at the adoptions desk, take a quick survey and then meet three dogs our staff recommends.
For those looking instead for a feline friend, the PSPCA will help mend broken hearts by giving them a second chance at love. Adopters that choose cats who have been returned to the shelter, or who have been in the shelter for 30 days and longer, will receive 50 percent off adoption fees.

Meeting your perfect pet has never been so easy. While the matchmaking industry for humans is raking it in online matchmaking services pull down 1. Canine-ality and feline-ality play a large part in the process. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has launched Meet Your Match , an incredible tool to assess if your personality will mesh with that of a prospective pet. Rather than viewing kitties in cages or receiving one picture in the mail before you make a commitment, you simply take a short test to find the love you never knew.
The dogs and cats at the shelter have done the same. Researchers consider many factors in each assessment, and eventually choose one color that best describes the pet in question, attaching a color-coded collar when the process is complete. After your survey, you get a color too. Then the real matchmaking begins. Green cats are savvy and adventurous, orange cats make the perfect companions and purple kitties are quiet, seek affection and stay out of trouble.
What more could we ask for in a matchmaking for dogs and cats service than the simplicity of color-coding?
